Guying Kit

This kit contains everything you need to guy stuff. I use this kit for the rough tarps that I use for quick shelters without dedicated guy lines, antenna that don't have specific guy lines, joining tents to shelters with tarps and a dozen other things.

This is my newest kit, before it becoming a kit, the paracord lived with all the other cord, the line sliders lived in a small ziploc bag & the pegs lived in a jiffy bag. Hikeman swooped in and gave me a nice tidy solution, that is ready all the time.

Guying Kit
The contents of the guying kit.
There's a couple of hanks of 550 paracord, it makes good strong guylines that are fairly weather proof, easy to tie and untie, and easy to see when they're up and down. There's 6 lightweight titanium pegs and 3 aluminium pegs (1 was busted last time I used it, fear not, there's more on the way). The pegs are all on a carabiner to keep them together.
Line Sliders
Various Line Sliders.
In the little orange pouch are a bunch of line sliders, they make it easy to take up slack on guy lines and quickly make a quick guy line into a proper job. There's a couple of different types depending on the use/duration/weather. The blue ones are light duty, ideal for easy weather, quick deployments, the red ones are ideal for rough weather or longer term installations. Both work well and finish a guyline well.
Front pouch
Knife & lighters live in the front pouch.
I've usually got a pocket knife on me, but just in case there's one in the kit, it's not always this one, but there's alwasys one in it. There's a couple of refillable lighters in the front too, if I'm going to the trouble of putting line sliders on it, then you know I'm burning the end of the cord to keep it neat and tidy! The jet flame one is ideal for burning, it works in the wind and does the job quickly. It fairly munches through gas though, so a standard mini clipper is in there too.
