Bike Ride, Adventure, Muddy
A few weeks ago, Mitch and I went for a bike ride. We had fun, nothing too exciting, just a ride through the fields, along the bus lane, through the woods behind the park then home.
The first ride of the kids ride club.
Somehow word spread and the following week rather than just Mitch and I, it was Mitch, Ralphie and I. This time we went the other way, along the old railway line through the fields out to the old railway bridge outside of Hindley.
The second ride of the kids ride club.
We went full adventure mode this time, we were looking for massive puddles and crusty cars. You don't see a huge amount of cars on the railway line, in fact, I've never seen any driving about when I'm riding/running along, I assume wrong 'uns use the path as the final destination after their evenings of naughty fun.
This was the car that inspired the "let's find more burned out cars" mission for the day!
Burned out car number 1. Maybe a Focus?
Further along the track just next to Bex Hole (which I added to google maps as a bit of a joke, and now it's turned into a real thing with many 5 star reviews!) we found the next burned out car. This one was a bit off the track, and required careful swamp navigation to reach.
Burned out car number 2. Maybe a Leon?
At Bex hole, we're a few muddy KMs into the ride, bit of rain, lot of puddles so naturally climbing into the car was on the cards! Once you're muddy, a little bit more mud is fine. After all kinds of pretending to drive the car, they had a quick drink and we're off again to find more.
A bit further along the same path there's a rocky downhill section. Much hilarity was had egging each other to ride it. Much excitement and two very proud lads riding the flat section after said downhill bit.
We got to the railway bridge, had a mooch about, climbed on it, enjoyed the view, the usual stuff. Then we headed back home a slightly different way to catch a third car that was there the last time I was.
Burned out car number 3. Maybe a Zafira?.
Boom, it's still there! A burned out hat trick!
Word has spread once again. This morning Mitch says to me "Dad, can we go for a bike ride?". So off we went, this time Mitch, Ralphie, Arthur and me. Arthur isn't used to his mountain bike, and had a fixed home time so no muddy epic, just a quick blast through the fields, a speedy downhill run through the woods behind the park and every puddle along long causeway.
