Power Banks
My power banks

This isn't really a review of the power banks, more just me documenting them (remember, experimenting with a website). As I've said on another page, almost all the mobile devices we use are USB powered, so as well as a selection of chargers, a selection of power banks is handy.

These are the three that I use most often, there's another in my radio bag that's bigger than the Iniu, but smaller than the Ugreen, but aside from that it's the same as them.

The trio in this "review" are

Anker Astro E1

Astro E1
Astro E1.
This is a tiny little thing, 6700mAh capacity with 2A output. It charges a big phone once, so it's ideal for a lightweight one hit single use. It's only 97x44x20mm and weighs about 125gr. It fits anywhere and is light enough that it doesn't matter. The output is a USB A, the annoying thing about the Anker is the micro USB input, it's an old bank though, so it gets a pass from me. The bank has a 4 LEDs indicating how much power is left in it.

I've had the bank for ages, I can't find anything to tell me when I got it but it's been at least 8 years. I'm sure the capacity is down a bit on box fresh, but it's still enough to fill my Pixel 9 so it stays. I keep my eye out for a replacement but until something matches its size capacity I'll keep looking.

Iniu P41

It's bigger than the Astro, and has more capacity. It charges a big phone twice. It's 110x70x17mm and it weighs about 193gr. It's a 10,000 mAh capacity and puts out 3A. It also supports USB PD so it spits out more than 5v. The bank outputs 2 x USB C and a USB A. It charges via USB C. There's an LED on the end that I'm not really sure has any purpose. On the face there's a 5 segment paw print that shows power level. I'd prefer if it was a more simple set of 5 dot LEDs, but it's fine. It's a different shape to the Astro, it's more like a pack of cards. It slips into a pocket and isn't really heavy enough to notice. It's lanyard is made from a USB C to C cable which is a nice touch.

I've had the bank since the start of 2025. It's a bit too big to replace the Astro, but it's ideal for trips where there's a couple of devices or if I'm away from a socket for more than a day. It's a solid power bank and I'm happy I picked it up.

Ugreen PB721

It's a whopper. 130x55x50mm and weighs 480gr. It's a 20,000mAh and it puts out 5A. It's PD and a beefer so it'll charge phones, handhelds, headphones and laptops. It's too big for an on person carry, but it's OK for a bag. It's got a screen that shows power level and output power, it's a novelty that isn't all that much more useful than a set of LEDs. The fact it has a friendly face to welcome you when you turn it on probably tells you all you need to know about the screens usefulness! Maybe I'm being too harsh?

It's got 2 x USB Cs and a USB A on the top. There's a button on the side that changes the display to show power output, a power rundown chart and a couple of other screens. It outputs much closer to it's 20,000mAh capacity than the Inui does (10,000mAh capacity, but max output capacity is 6,250mAh)

I've had the bank since October 2024, i bought it because it was cheap and I thought having a whopper bank would be handy. The bank hasn't been as useful as I thought it was going to be. It's handy for trains & planes when plugs aren't always available but once you get somewhere there's usually a plug and If I'm going away somewhere for a couple of days then I've got a charger with me. Knowing what I know now, I don't think I'd buy it again, nothing about the bank, I just don't have a use case that it answers.
