Been another busy work week. But this isn't a work post. A while back I ordered one of the DeepSDR 101 clones from my favourite Chinese website. It arrived a couple of days ago. The radio works well, but the interface is a disaster! No matter what I tried I couldn't get the USB drive to show up in either Linux or Windows so I could flash a better firmware onto it. I wanted to make sure there was nothing obviously broken before resigning myself to just getting used to the interface. Well, everything looks fine, no bridges, no dodgy joints, no missing components. So I'm stuck with the stock firmware. Anyway, the radio functions well, picks up FM broadcast, my local airports, & HF. It's cheap enough that an iffy user experience is acceptable. I'm tempted by a Malahit DSP2 but I've not yet pulled the trigger on one. They're a few years old now, maybe there's a new one in the wings?
