Rollin rolling rollin
I've been in Belfast with work this week. As you can see from the image, it was a very cloudy day, the benefit of being in a plane is you're up above the cloud, so the sky is a clear blue delight. The flight to Belfast from Manchester is only a short hop so the flight is usually on a prop plane. The props are whizzing round at whatever speed and it shows up a lovely phenomenon, rolling shutter. The image sensor captures the image by scanning it line by line, because the blades are spinning so fast by the time the next line of the image is captured the prop has moved, when it's done the whole image the props look all bendy. This is rolling shutter, and I love it!
Belfast was great, work was interesting, met a few organisations, including one that was new to me. We had a couple of great nights out in Belfast. As ever, Kelly's Cellars and The Duke of York were warm, friendly, welcoming dispensers of ice cold Guinness.
