Its back
I bought this TC-D5 M a few years ago. It was sold as spares/repairs and was relatively inexpensive. When it arrived, I opened it up and fixed the not working problem. I'm not an expert. Working was the best description I could apply to it. It didn't sound good, but at least it worked. My plan was to just have it as a nice thing to look at, hence me buying a spares/repairs one. I was chatting to a friend at work one day and somehow we got onto the subject of old walkmans. This was how I found out that he had a side hustle in buying, repairing & selling on old HiFi & portable stereos. He offered to take a look at it and get it back to factory fresh mechanically. I naturally snatched his arm off and dropped it off at his house a couple of days later. We met up for food earlier this week and he brought it back. It sounds wonderful. It wears its age marks well. I'm going to clean the controls but aside from that, I plan to leave it worn. Thanks Simon, you've done an amazing job. Check out his website here.
